GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS


BEFORE THE EVENT

  • Students are allowed to use electronic devices and must be accountable for their own belongings.

  • A maximum number of three members will be allowed per group. 

  • Each participant must bring any kind of personal identification, such as a school-issued ID card or a citizen ID card to enter the school campus. Failure to bring identification will lead to you not being accepted in the venue.


DURING THE EVENT

  • Participants must be enrolled in grades 8-11 to be eligible to participate in the two categories

  • Category 1: Grades 8-9 will be participating under the “Junior Division” category.

  • Category 2: Grades 10-11 will be participating under the “Senior Division” category.

  • A specific theme will be allocated from the two themes at the beginning of the event to the individual/groups. Once revealed, switching or changing the theme will be strictly prohibited. 

  • Participants will be given a design situation with three options after the opening ceremony and your product (digital/physical) must be based on one. Failure to do so will lead to a lower rating by the judges. 

  • All participants are suggested to follow a similar breakdown of the time provided

    • The first hour after the transition could be allocated for ideation.

    • The second hour could be dedicated to creation.

    • Subsequent time slots will be designated for presentation of solutions and submission of the products. 

  • The judging criteria and task-specific clarification for each category will be shared on the day of the event.

  • Work that is submitted must be created only within the time frame of 8:30 - 11:30 GMT+7 on the 16th of November, 2024. Any work created before the given time frame and/or is submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.

  • Participants in the Hackathon event are encouraged to use generative artificial intelligence tools responsibly, ensuring that proper references and citations are included when utilizing AI technologies and any secondary sources.

  • Participants are allowed to talk to other participants but not merge or modify their groups on the day of the event. 

  • Copying or having the same idea as other groups will be considered as plagiarism and lead to disqualification of both teams/individuals. 

  • Any form of argument with our staffs or judges present on the day of the event will result in a warning; two warnings will result in disqualification.

  • Three warnings to any individual will lead to disqualification of them/their group. 

  • The event flow will be as follows:



INFORMATION: AFTER THE EVENT

  • Winners for each category will be announced on the same day following the event (please refer to the timetable above).

    • Judges will be present on the day of the event, taking notes about your work process

    • Judges' decisions will be final and unchangeable. 


PARTICIPANTS

  • Participants must only work in permitted locations, as will be specified in the opening ceremony.  If a participant is found in an unpermitted location, they will be disqualified from the event. 

  • All participants must be wearing their assigned lanyards for the duration of the event. If a participant is found without their lanyard, they will be given a warning.  

  • Follow all the instructions given on the day of the event to maintain order throughout the event, not doing so will lead to a warning. 

  • Participants are not allowed to leave the campus after they have entered the venue until 1:00 PM (end of the event).

  • Drinks are permitted in the working area.


PRODUCT SPECIFIC

  • Participants are required to submit a presentation of their product. All usage of AI and proper references with citations must be included in this.


Physical products 

  • Your submission must be a working representation/model of the solution. You are required to make only a small-scale prototype of the product.

  • No woodworking will be permitted.

  • Participants are requested to bring their own materials, including stationary items, such as pens, pencils, markers, rulers, etc. 

  • We recommend that participants bring their own materials for the creation of a physical product. This includes

    • Material: Sunboard, Cardboard

    • Adhesives: Glue guns, Glue sticks 

    • Cutting: Cutters, Cutting mats, Scissors

    • Electronics: Adruino microprocessors, Sensors, Robotics components, etc.

  • We request each participant to make mindful use of provided and brought resources in order to ensure that we avoid an unnecessary wastage of resources. This includes leaving your workspace tidy after the creation of the product and returning any borrowed material to the designated location.


Digital Products 

  • Digital products must be submitted as a walkthrough video.

  • Participants must use a screen - recorder with a face cam on to ensure the authenticity of the work submitted. The recording can be in parts. 

    • The time must be visible at all times.



These rules and regulations are designed to ensure a fair and enjoyable experience for all participants while promoting creativity, innovation, and collaboration.
